PATRA, A New Opera Comique – July 19 & 22
I’ll kick this off with what I am most excited about! My parents (as you may know) have written a number of musicals/operas. PATRA, an opera comique based on the final days of Cleopatra’s life, is heading to Seagle Music Colony in upstate New York in September. We’re doing a pre-New York presentation and fundraiser for the show Friday, July 19 at 7:30pm at Westcoast Black Theatre and Monday, July 22 at the Bird Key Yacht Club. Both performances are open to the public!
The WBTT concert has a $20 suggested donation ticket price to be paid at the door. For an advance reserved seat visit GoFundMe.com/PatraOpera, make a donation, and in the notes write WBTT ticket. Westcoast Black Theatre is located at 1012 N Orange Ave, Sarasota, FL 34236.
The PATRA Event at Bird Key Yacht Club is $45. Advance reservations should be made by calling 941-724-1199. The Bird Key Yacht Club is located at 301 Bird Key Dr, Sarasota, FL 34236.
Hear the story and beautifully sung excerpts from PATRA with Kathryn Parks, Carole Cornman, Robyn Rocklein, Baron Garriott & Joseph Ryan. The Ohrenstein’s opera comique sparkles with dance rhythms and exotic melodies. As the tale of Cleopatra begins, Egypt is defeated by Rome and Patra desperately hopes to save herself and her children. Her love challenges the villainous Octavian and he becomes a new man. “
