I started writing a musical film in the summer of 2024. We recorded the music in March 2025 and we filmed it later that year for six days in late October.
As such, it’s been a little while since I’ve sent an update, and I have some REALLY good news:
WE HAVE A FILM. Well… we have a full draft of a film, which is pretty darn exciting.
After all the fundraising, planning, rehearsing, filming, one pick up day, and a whole lot of blood, sweat and musical theater tears… Musings is making its way through post-production!
[BTW, From that first Spark the Muse event in May 2025 to production in late October 2025, we raised over $25,000 including $11,000 from our Spark The Muse Film Fundraiser, plus an Emerging Filmmaker Grant from Film Florida, and a grant and matching challenge from Johnson Singer Arts Education Fund! Pretty sweet. And HUGE thank you to everyone who donated individually too.]
I’ve been working on the edit, and I’m so excited to say that it looks really good! The music sounds fantastic, the story is coming together, the performances are killer, and we have beautiful light, sound, and yes, everything is in focus (thanks to our DP Jason!). We’re currently looking at a film that’s going to land near 30 minutes.
And we’re not quite done yet.
So what’s left?
We’re now working toward the finish line, with:

Animation — I’m excited to share that we’re adding a new animated sequence to the beginning of the film to help introduce the world and history of the Muses.

Our goal is to have the film completed by the end of this year* and then have a local private screening and begin sending it out into the world through the festival circuit.
And here’s something I’m really proud of…
Nearly 50 people – cast and crew – worked on this film and they’re all Florida-based. (except our director, Celine Rosenthal, who was a New York-Florida-New York transplant 😉 And we filmed everything right here in Sarasota and Manatee Counties! Having a Florida team was incredibly important to me from the beginning. I wanted Musings to not only be a story about creativity, but to actually create opportunities for artists right here in Florida.

I’m excited to share that three of my previous films are now available on Film Florida TV, which means more of my work – and the work of all the Florida artists who helped make those films is finding an audience.

*And a little personal update…
This past year has also reminded me that apparently I need to occasionally be told to slow down.
Two days after we wrapped Musings in late October, I fell down some stairs (don’t text and climb people) and injured my foot. I was on crutches for six weeks! And then, the DAY AFTER that happened, I drove my car into a school bus. 
Thankfully it was low-speed, no children were on the bus, and everyone was okay – but I took the hint. Not to mention, 2026 has been the year of some family health issues – but thankfully, everyone is doing much better now.
So I’ve been deliberately moving at a slower pace with Musings related to post-production. I’m still incredibly excited about the film, but I’m trying to make sure I actually finish the journey in one piece.
In the meantime, I’ve also been acting, auditioning for film and television projects around the country, and you can even catch me acting in the new Lifetime movie Someone’s Watching Me, now on Amazon Prime!
Back to the Muses…
